Shimla, May 30`
Planned ahead of the Shimla MC and forth coming assembly polls, now barely 24 hours are left for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Shimla visit and the town is buzzing with speculations that, is the PM going to announce any major bonanza for people of State.
Chief minister Jai Ram Thakur and state Party president Suresh Kashyap have met with senior party leaders recently about the agenda of meeting and it is being expected that Prime Minister may announced Tribal Status to Transgiri area of Sirmaur district which is a one and half decades old demand of Hatti community who claim to be sister tribe of tribe of Jonsar-babar area of Uttrakhand already getting tribal status.
It is worthwhile to mention that this agenda also figured in 2019 Lok Sabha and 2017 Vidhan Sabha polls. Recently the Union government was warned by the Hatti community that they could boycott assembly polls, if the the ruling’s election manifesto promise was not kept.
Though, it may be little bit late, but the ruling party may get slight edge over the four assembly seats in Sirmaur district if, PM on May 31, announces the same. Sources within saffron party inform us that Lok Sabha member from Shimla and party state president Suresh Kashyap is under pressure with in his home district to either fulfil or leave politics if he could not assure the promise.
Registrar General of India, recently, had given approval to provide Tribal Status to Transgiri area of Sirmour district which includes Shilai, Dadahu, Rajgrah, Renuka, Sangrah and part of Poanta Sahib. This issue could not sorted out by the successive Government in Delhi as anothrogenic study didn’t support the tribal status under Schedule Tribe Special Area Act.
The only logic given by the Hatti community is that when Jonsar-babar area of Uttrakhand, same tribe can get tribal status, then, why not for them. Sources inform us that the major challenge before the BJP president is to bring in about ten thousand crowd to Shimla Rally, which may be possible, only, if such announcement would be made.
The BJP has resolved to garner around 30000 party activists to Shimla to commemorate the eighth year of Modi Government but this time PM shall have to announce big package for the hill state. During similar visits in previous NDA regime Atal Bihari Vajpayee had announced to provide thousands of crores of additional assistance from the Centre.
Recently, Leader of Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri had stated that PM Modi provided only Rs 500 Cr additional assistance in the last five years, which was negligible compared to other PMs announcements, in previous times.
Former Mayor Sanjay Chauhan demanded that PM should fulfil promise of 24/7 water supply scheme to Shimla, imposing 100 per cent import duty on Apple, supplying apple concentrate to use in fruit juices and set up plant for it.
The Leftist leader even reminded that during 2017 Shimla visit, the PM had stated ‘Havai Chappal vala aab, Havai safar karega’. However, the Shimla airport is hardly operating any flights since the past 2 years, he added. He said that election promises made in the past two Lok Sabha and one assembly polls are expected to be fulfilled by the Prime Minister.
