President of India Ramnath Kovind, while giving reference of a recent study, greeted Himachal Pradesh Government for achieving 2nd place in the Niti Aayog development index for the year 2020-21 . The President was addressing a special session of Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha on the Golden Jubilee celebration of complete statehood in the council chamber here today.
President greeted the people of Himachal, Governor Rajinder Kumar Arlekar and Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur for getting the 2nd place in the Niti Aayog Development index report for the year 2020-21.
Ramnath Kovind also greeted the people of the state for achieving a 100 per cent target in a single dose of Covid Vaccination.
Himachal was the abode of former Prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, remembered the first citizen. Adding, that he not only gave a Industrial package to this state moreover laid the foundation stone of the world’s longest underground Rohtang Atal tunnel in 2002 to link tourist resort Manali with Keylong. The same was later commissioned and dedicated to people of Himachal Pradesh by Prime minister Narendra Modi.
Going down memory lane, President said that in 1974 he visited Kullu Manali. Since then he has come to Himachal Pradesh to participate in various programs , ” I was impressed to the hardwork, simplicity, honesty and hospitality of the state, every journey to Himachal is refreshing and rejuvenating and have enjoyed it thoroughly” he said.
Talking about flooding, landslide incidents during the last few months, he said there have been unfortunate incidents like cloudburst and water-flooding in Himachal Pradesh. “I extend my heartfelt condolences to all the bereaved families.” Adding,” I am sure that the Central and State Governments together will develop scientific solutions to such disasters.”
Kovind added that this council of chamber is testimony of many historical event of Modern India. Bitthal Bhai Patel was elected first Speaker of the Central legislative Assembly in this hall after defeating a Britisher. Serving as presiding officer of CLA Patel set number of precedence and examples being followed even today in many states, parliamentary
democracy.
The president while mentioning district Sirmaur said,” I wish that the entire Himachal Pradesh one day becomes the Sirmour of India on the scale of development.” I am sure that by the time our countrymen celebrate the centenary of independence in 2047 and Himachal Pradesh celebrates the completion of seventy-five years of its establishment, by then this state will be presenting an ideal of world-class development and prosperity,” hoped the president.
President said that it is great occasion when India is celebrating 75 yrs Amrit Mohatsav of Independence. While this hill state is celebrating the 50 yrs of its statehood as it was founded after passing of Himachal Pradesh State Act 1971 to become the 18 state of the Union of India.
