Shimla, June 22
Three days after a similar incident being reported from Chopal in Shimla now Jogindernagar police have apprehended a primary school head teacher, Harish, for allegedly molesting four minor students from the 4th and 5th grades. According to SHO Ashwani, the arrest followed a complaint received through a child helpline.
Harish, 51, who hails from Ladbhadol in Mandi district, has been serving at the school since December 2021. The allegations were reported by the District Child Protection Department after interviewing the students, leading to an FIR under the POCSO Act at Jogindernagar police station on Thursday. The accused was detained on Friday evening and is scheduled to appear in court today. The police are thoroughly investigating the case, including recording the statements of the victims and their families.
In the related incident, a shopkeeper from Chopal in Shimla district was placed in 14-day judicial custody for allegedly molesting 11 schoolgirls. This individual, a former commando with a criminal history, had recently been released after serving a 22-year sentence for murder. He was arrested on June 20 following an FIR lodged the same day.
