Shimla, May 11,
After an extended spell of unsettled weather, Himachal Pradesh is set to experience a shift toward warmer conditions starting Monday. With the influence of the prevailing Western Disturbance gradually weakening, both minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to rise steadily over the coming week.
From May 12 to 14, light to moderate rainfall is likely over the mid and high hills, accompanied by occasional thunderstorms with gusty winds (30–40 kmph) and lightning at isolated locations in districts such as Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla. Plains and low hill areas including Una, Bilaspur, and Hamirpur may also witness isolated thunderstorms early in the week.
From May 15 onwards, rainfall activity is expected to decline significantly, with only isolated showers possible over high hill regions. A gradual increase in temperatures is anticipated, with maximums likely to rise by 4–5°C and minimums by 2–4°C. As a result, hot and humid conditions are expected to prevail in low-lying areas such as Paonta Sahib, Una, and Bilaspur, potentially leading to heatwave-like conditions by the weekend.
Residents are advised to remain cautious of possible thunderstorms in the first half of the week and prepare for rising heat levels later. Precautionary measures such as staying hydrated and avoiding direct sun exposure during peak hours are recommended.
