Shimla, Feb 15,
In a organizational change, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has appointed Rajani Patil as the new incharge of the Himachal Pradesh Congress, replacing Rajiv Shukla. The decision is being viewed as part of the party’s internal restructuring efforts aimed at strengthening its state unit.
Sources within the party suggest that the change comes in light of recent electoral challenges and the need for a more cohesive leadership approach in the state. Over the past few months, the Himachal Pradesh Congress has faced internal differences, which some party members believe have impacted organizational functioning.
One of the key challenges cited was the outcome of the recent Rajya Sabha elections, where cross-voting resulted in the party’s candidate not securing a seat. Additionally, discussions within the party have highlighted concerns regarding the functioning of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) and the need for a more structured approach to organizational matters.
The Himachal Pradesh Congress has witnessed differing viewpoints within its leadership, with various members advocating for greater internal coordination. With Rajani Patil now at the helm, party workers anticipate efforts to enhance unity and streamline decision-making processes. A party functionary noted that Patil has previous experience handling the state and may focus on addressing existing concerns through dialogue and consensus-building.
While the change in leadership is being seen as a strategic move, party observers believe that long-term success will depend on strengthening the state unit’s structure, fostering inclusivity, and ensuring effective communication among party members. A senior leader remarked that the party high command’s continued support in addressing organizational matters will be crucial moving forward.
With Rajani Patil assuming her role, party members are looking ahead to how the new leadership will shape the Congress’s approach in Himachal Pradesh in the coming months.
