Shimla/New Delhi, June 27
The Rajya Sabha has revoked the suspension of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Member Sanjay Singh, effective from 26 June 2024. The announcement was made by the Vice President Secretariat following the presentation of the 77th and 78th reports by the Privileges Committee of the Rajya Sabha on 26 June 2024, stated a media communique by PIB.
The media note stated that Sanjay Singh was initially suspended on 24 July 2023, pending the submission of the Privileges Committee’s report. The Committee, after thorough examination, found Sanjay Singh guilty of breach of privileges of the Council in all the cases. However, the Committee noted that the Member had already suffered sufficient punishment for the breach.
Utilizing the powers granted under Rules 202 and 266 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Rajya Sabha, the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha decided to revoked Sanjay Singh’s suspension, it stated. This decision allows him to resume his duties and attend Parliament sessions.
It is also noteworthy that Sanjay Singh has been released on bail on April 2, 2024. The AAP MP Singh was released on bail by the Supreme Court after ED didn’t oppose his plea in the Delhi excise policy case.
