Shimla, Mar 11
Residents of Gram Panchayat Pujarli, organized under the banner of Himachal Pradesh Kissan Sabha, Gram Sudhar Sabha, and Yuva Mandal, submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Shimla, opposing the inclusion of Gram Panchayat Pujarli in the Shimla Nagar Nigam.
Dr. Kuldeep Singh Tanwar emphasized that all villagers of Pujarli objected to the decision of the Council of Ministers to include the Gram Panchayat in the Shimla Municipal Corporation.
In the memorandum, residents of Pujarli Panchayat expressed their discontent with the recent decision by the Cabinet to include the village of Byoliya and other wards in the Municipal Corporation of Shimla, which they believe is against the interests of the local residents.
Villagers stated that the decision to include the Panchayat in the Municipal Corporation was influenced by a few powerful individuals, including high officials who had acquired land under the provisions of Section 118.
They urged the State Government to reconsider this decision, stating that it goes against the public interest and the sentiments of the entire village population under Gram Panchayat Pujarli. They also warned that the decision could burden poor residents with various taxes in the future.
Furthermore, they expressed concerns that this decision would erode traditional and ancestral rights by altering land use.
Dr. Tanwar emphasized that residents living on the boundaries of the Municipal Corporation, as well as the Panchayats of the area, and all villagers, are prepared to initiate a movement against the decision if it is not reconsidered.
