Shimla, Aug 29,

BJP Chief Spokesperson and Sundernagar MLA, Rakesh Jamwal, on Wednesday launched a strong critique of the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led Congress government, accusing it of significantly raising cement prices, thereby placing an additional burden on the public. Jamwal attributed the price hike directly to the government’s policies, emphasizing the timing of the increase when people are already struggling with the aftermath of recent disasters.

Jamwal also took aim at Congress leaders for remaining silent on the issue, contrasting their current stance with their previous protests over smaller price hikes. He highlighted the difficulties faced by the poor, who are finding it increasingly difficult to construct homes due to rising construction costs. “Last year, the Congress government shut down stone crushers during the monsoon, which led to inflated prices for sand and gravel. Now, with the hike in cement prices, many families’ dreams of owning a home have been crushed,” Jamwal remarked.

The BJP leader continued his criticism, labeling the Sukhu government as the most inefficient administration in Himachal Pradesh’s history. He pointed out that in just 18 months, the government has accumulated a debt of ₹30,000 crores, yet development remains stagnant. Jamwal accused the government of misusing public funds while leaving employees, pensioners, and the youth to protest in the streets for their rights.

Jamwal further condemned the government’s decision to end the free water supply in rural areas, raise electricity tariffs, and discontinue the Himcare scheme, which has left many without crucial healthcare. He accused the Congress of deceiving the public with false promises before the elections, only to impose additional financial hardships once in power.
