Rs 1 Crore LSD Drug Consignment Seized in Shimla, two Arrested as Police Crack Down on Narcotics Network
Shimla, March 12,
In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking in Himachal Pradesh, the District Police Shimla has seized 562 strips of LSD (Lysergic Acid Diethylamide) with an estimated illegal market value of nearly Rs 1 crore, arresting two accused persons in the operation.
The seizure was made by a special team of Shimla Police as part of the ongoing campaign against drug trafficking in the hill state. Following the recovery, FIR No. 14/2026 has been registered at Police Station New Shimla under Sections 22 and 29 of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway to trace the wider supply network.
Police officials indicated that the recovered LSD strips represent a significant drug consignment, highlighting the presence of organised narcotics distribution channels targeting youth and urban centres in the region.
What is LSD and Why It Is Dangerous
LSD (Lysergic Acid Diethylamide) is a highly potent psychedelic drug that severely affects the brain and mental state. Even extremely small doses can trigger intense hallucinations, psychological disturbances, and long-term mental health risks.
Due to its potency, LSD is often distributed by applying the chemical onto small pieces of blotter paper or stamps, which are then consumed orally. Because of its severe effects and high abuse potential, LSD is classified as a completely prohibited narcotic substance under India’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
