A day after Prime Minister Narinder Modi’s Shimla Rally, the district administration banned all public meetings and assemblies in the town.
While issuing the order today, District Magistrate Shimla Aditya Negi said there is a complete ban on holding public meetings, taking out processions, and rallies, raising slogans, playing bands, and carrying arms at various places in Shimla city. Among the places banned for public demonstrations are Chhota Shimla, Kennedy House and Ridge, Rivoli Cinema 150 meters from Rendezvous Restaurant, Scandal Point to Kalibari Mandir, Chhota Shimla Gurudwara to Chhota Shimla on Kasumpti road connectivity, Chhota Shimla chowk to Oakover via Raj Bhavan, Walking path from Chhota Shimla Gurdwara to Kasumpti Road, Sampark Marg, Cart Road to Majhitha House, AG Office to Cart Road, CPWD Office to Chaura Maidan, 50 meters from Police Gumti to Lower Bazar, above Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
He said that it would be mandatory to take permission from the competent authority to organize rallies, exhibitions, public meetings and bands. This order will not be applicable while performing duty to Police, Para Military and Military Personnel.
This order will be effective with immediate effect for a further period of two months. Legal action will be taken against the violators of the orders.
