Shimla MC polls: BJP releases vision document

Shimla, April 23

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released a vision document for the upcoming Municipal Corporation elections in Shimla. The document was released under the leadership of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, and outlines various plans to address issues such as water scarcity, parking, garbage disposal, dog menace and more.

One of the key promises made in the vision document is the waiver of the bill for 40,000 liters of water. Additionally, the BJP plans to implement a “one corporation, one tax” system and provide parking in every locality. Garbage bills are also expected to be reduced by 50%.

The BJP’s vision document includes plans to remove defects in the license fee for shops. The party also aims to bring awareness to drug addiction and install open gyms in every ward. A task force will be formed to reduce attacks by stray dogs and monkeys, and night shelters and labor hostels will be constructed for laborers.

The BJP promises to complete the work on the vegetable and grain markets in Dadni ka bagicha and create a committee for the supply of funds from Center government.

Ambulance roads will also be built till every corner of the city to ensure access to medical care.
To improve public safety, the BJP promises to install CCTV cameras throughout the area and cut dangerous trees under the responsibility of the Municipal Corporation. The party also plans to control fires by installing fire retardants.
While releasing the manifasto the Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur criticized the Congress, which remained in the Municipal Corporation for 25 years, claiming that it failed to deliver on its promises. Thakur accused the Congress of delaying the municipal elections by 11 months, changing the reservation roster, and rigging voter lists.
