In a major breakthrough against narcotics trafficking, Shimla district police have busted an interstate drug supply network and arrested three persons, including an alleged key supplier from Punjab, recovering a substantial quantity of heroin (chitta), methamphetamine (ice) and cash.
Superintendent of police Shimla Garauv Singh said in a press release issued today that operation originated from FIR No. 41/2026 registered at Dhali Police Station under Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act on May 29.
Acting on specific intelligence, a police team conducted a search at a house near Dhali Chowk and recovered around 65 grams of heroin and 20 grams of methamphetamine from the possession of Avantika Negi (19), a resident of Dhali, and Pradyumna Thakur (20), a resident of Theog.
During sustained interrogation, technical analysis and backward linkage investigations, police traced the source of the contraband to Kharar in Punjab. A special team subsequently arrested the alleged kingpin, Samar Singh alias Tiger (32), originally from Ferozepur district and presently residing in Kharar, Mohali district.
Police recovered an additional 131 grams of heroin, 27 grams of methamphetamine and ₹60,400 in cash from his possession. With the latest seizure, the total recovery in the case has risen to nearly 196 grams of heroin, 47 grams of methamphetamine and ₹60,400 in cash.
All three accused were produced before the court, which granted police remand till June 2 for further investigation.
Police sources said the interstate trafficking channel stretched from Punjab to Shimla and that the accused had been under surveillance for their alleged involvement in supplying narcotics in the region.
Shimla Police stated that the investigation is continuing to identify other members of the supply chain. The district police have arrested 43 accused through backward linkage investigations in drug trafficking cases during 2026, underscoring their strategy
