Shimla, May 19
Seven persons were detained by the Shimla Police under preventive provisions of the Indian Civil Security Code in separate incidents during the past two days to maintain public peace in the district.
Superintendent of Police Shimla, Gaurav Singh, said two cases were registered under Sections 126 and 170 at Police Stations Sanjauli and Sunni.
In the first incident, Sanjauli Police on May 17 found six youths allegedly fighting, abusing each other and issuing death threats during patrolling in the area. Police said the situation could have led to a breach of peace.
Police teams reached the spot and tried to pacify them, but the youths allegedly refused to cooperate. They were later brought under control and detained.
The accused were identified as Pawan Kumar of Kullu, Ritesh Jariyal of Chamba, Karna of Kullu, Aditya Negi of Kinnaur, Ishant of Mandi and Ankit of Shimla district.
Police said that while being taken to Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital for medical examination, the accused allegedly created a ruckus there as well.
Police initiated legal proceedings and produced them before the Assistant Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate, Shimla. All six were later released on personal bond.

In another incident, Sunni Police detained Zakir, a resident of Bhalan, for allegedly abusing, threatening and misbehaving with employees of the Tehsil Office at Sunni Bazaar.
Police said the accused was allegedly intoxicated and behaving aggressively. He was medically examined and later produced before the Executive Magistrate, Shimla Rural, Sunni.
Shimla Police appealed to the public to cooperate in maintaining peace and law and order.
