Shimla, Sept 25,
Shimla, known for its historical significance and harmonious coexistence of diverse communities, has recently experienced a disturbing surge in communal tensions. To counter this escalating animosity, concerned citizens have organized a Goodwill March on September 27, 2024.
Addressing a press conference, former Shimla Mayor Sanjay Chauhan underscored the urgent need for unity and the preservation of communal harmony. He emphasized that the current tensions have been artificially fueled by attempts to transform a personal dispute into a communal conflict, leading to widespread fear and mistrust.
Shimla, historically a peaceful city where people of different faiths have lived and worked together, has seen this atmosphere of brotherhood threatened by recent events. The growing communal frenzy has not only created unrest but has also tarnished the image of Himachal Pradesh as a peaceful state, negatively impacting its vital tourism sector.
In response, citizens are calling upon peace-loving individuals to unite against this tide of division. Various left-leaning organizations are backing the march, urging the public to participate and send a strong message in favor of peace and against communal discord.
The Sadbhavna March will commence on September 27, 2024, at 11 AM near the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Shimla. The organizers are appealing to city dwellers and concerned citizens to join the march in large numbers, promoting unity and sending a positive message of brotherhood not only to Shimla but to the entire state and country.
This peaceful protest aims to remind people of their constitutional right to live and work anywhere in the country while fostering mutual respect and harmony.
