Shrikhand Mahadev Yatra terminated due to weather concerns

In a precautionary move, the District Administration has terminated the ongoing Shrikhand Mahadev Yatra, which began on July 7, 2023. This decision comes in light of the persistent rainfall and the red alert forecast issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
On recommendations of SDM Nirmand in District Kullu and the yatra committee expressing concerns regarding potential risks such as flash floods and landslides, particularly at Parvatibag and its vicinity, the District Magistrate Ashutosh Garg ordered termination of the yarta with immediate effect. Given the unfavorable prevailing conditions, the pilgrimage has been terminated immediately, ensuring the safety of all involved.
In response to the order, the SDM has directed the trust responsible for the yatra to facilitate the safe evacuation of all pilgrims and officials from various camp sites as soon as weather conditions permit.
The Shrikhand Mahadev Yatra is an annual pilgrimage to the revered Shrikhand Mahadev peak at 17150 feet above sea level in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Despite the suspension of this year’s yatra, authorities are prioritizing the well-being and security of all individuals involved, maintaining their commitment to ensuring a safe experience for devotees.
