Shimla, July 10
The Southwest Monsoon remained dormant for the last two days but is likely to lash a few places in the state in the next 24 hours. According to the IMD, monsoon conditions have persisted in the past couple of days, maintaining a partly cloudy sky and mostly dry conditions across the region.
Significant rainfall has been recorded at Baijnath (32.0 mm), Paonta Saheb (18.4 mm), Daulakuan (17.5 mm), Palampur (8.8 mm), Nahan (8.3 mm), and Dalhousie (8.0 mm).
According to the State Disaster Management Authority, 28 roads are affected by the recent rain, including 8 in Mandi, 5 in Sirmour, 6 in Shimla, 4 in Kangra, 3 in Kinnaur, and 2 in Kullu. Nineteen distribution transformers and sixteen water supply schemes continue to be out of order in the state.
Gusty winds were observed at Reckong Peo (61 km/h) and Bajaura (38 km/h). Despite the forecast of thunderstorms and light rain, the general weather pattern has seen limited precipitation confined to a few places, creating a blend of humidity and rising temperatures.
Shimla remains partly cloudy with a potential for light rain and low visibility conditions. Nalagarh could expect light rain, while Hamirpur and Dehra are likely to experience light rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
The broader state forecast indicates light precipitation along with isolated thunderstorms and lightning, particularly in the districts of Kangra, Mandi, Hamirpur, and Una.
Over the last 24 hours, minimum temperatures have remained above normal across Himachal Pradesh, while maximum temperatures have stayed within the normal range. The lowest recorded temperature was 11.8°C at Kukumseri, and the highest was 36.5°C at Bilaspur.
Looking ahead, the forecast for the next seven days suggests isolated thunderstorms and heavy rain in certain places, although the monsoon’s intensity will likely remain subdued.
Residents are advised to stay informed about local weather updates and prepare for potential light precipitation and thunderstorms, especially in the highlighted districts.
