Nahan, June 24
Himachal Pradesh Home Department stated here that, as part of a comprehensive drive against drug trafficking, the Sirmaur Police and the Special Task Force (STF) have seized illegal assets worth approximately ₹4.41 crore belonging to drug trafficker Mahmood Ali and his syndicate.
The assets identified and seized include 12 small vehicles, one truck, and three houses acquired by the accused. The case regarding the seized assets has been forwarded to the competent authority in New Delhi for legal proceedings, where the confirmation of the assets and the process for permanent forfeiture will be carried out in accordance with the rules.
The spokesperson of state police noted that this action, taken under the NDPS Act, marks a significant achievement in the ongoing campaign against drug abuse. Multiple cases under the NDPS Act have been registered against Mahmood Ali and his associates in Himachal Pradesh and other states. The main accused, Mahmood Ali, is currently detained at the Modern Central Jail, Nahan, under the PIT-NDPS Act.
He stated that a detailed financial investigation revealed that Mahmood Ali, along with his family members and associates, had amassed substantial illegal wealth through the interstate trafficking of opium, poppy husk, and other narcotic substances.

The investigation found that while the accused had a legitimate income of only ₹72,58,198 over the past six years, the total value of the assets they acquired exceeded ₹4.41 crore. This vast discrepancy between income and assets clearly points to wealth generated from the illicit drug trade.
The investigation also revealed that the drug syndicate was utilizing shell companies—such as M/s Bulbul Transport Company and M/s Bulbul Fruit Supplier—to launder money earned from drug trafficking and to conceal their illegal activities.
The objective of this coordinated campaign is not merely to establish effective control over drug trafficking but also to dismantle the economic infrastructure of the drug trade by confiscating illicit assets acquired through crime and to strike a decisive blow at its root sources.
Residents of the state can contact the number 112 or report to the nearest police station to provide any information related to drugs to the Himachal Pradesh Police. The identity of the informant will be kept strictly confidential by the police.
A continuous and effective campaign is being conducted by the Special Task Force, in collaboration with the district police, to realize the resolve of a ‘Chitta-free Himachal’ under the state-wide public movement against ‘Chitta’ (synthetic drugs), which was launched by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on November 15, 2025.
