Shimla, Sept 27,
The State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB) has directed the district revenue authorities of Solan to probe allegations of stamp duty evasion in a land deal.
The directive follows a complaint filed by Hans Raj, a resident of Bilaspur district, who alleged that a buyer under valued the land to evade stamp duty by showing incorrect categorization of the plots.
In its communication, the Bureau emphasized that while no enquiry has been conducted at its level, the district administration must examine the matter in detail as per departmental rules.
If any vigilance angle emerges, the case could be escalated for a full investigation under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
The development comes at a time when the Himachal Pradesh government is intensifying reforms to improve revenue collection and ensure early disposal of case.
According to official data, over 49,160 revenue-related cases have been settled in the state so far, yielding Rs 467.71 crore.
In its previous phases, schemes of similar nature helped resolve thousands of cases and generated substantial income for the exchequer.
Phase 2 of the new scheme is expected to cover nearly 30,000 pending cases and generate around Rs. 10 crore.
A government spokesperson noted that strict monitoring of revenue leaks, coupled with settlement schemes, would strengthen the state’s financial position while also providing relief to taxpayers.
