Shimla, Aug 24,
Tata Motors has taken a bold step into the competitive mid-size SUV segment with the launch of India’s first SUV Coupe, the Curvv.ev. Starting at an attractive price of ₹ 17.49 lakh for the 45kWh battery variant, the Curvv.ev is set to redefine the SUV segment with its innovative design, advanced technology, and impressive driving range.
Breaking New Ground in Design
The Curvv.ev represents a unique blend of SUV toughness and coupe elegance, distinguishing itself in a market dominated by traditional SUV designs. This new model is built on Tata Motors’ advanced Pure EV architecture, acti.ev, making it the second product to use this platform. The Curvv.ev is available in three distinct personas—Creative, Accomplished, and Empowered+—each offering a blend of comfort, safety, and advanced technology.
The exterior design of the Curvv.ev is highlighted by flush door handles, R18 alloy wheels with Aero Inserts, and squared wheel arches, all contributing to its sporty yet premium appearance. The vehicle also features Smart Digital Lighting, including connected DRLs, LED projector headlamps, and a panoramic sunroof with mood lighting, enhancing both aesthetics and functionality.
Impressive Range and Performance
One of the standout features of the Curvv.ev is its impressive driving range. The 55kWh battery variant offers a certified range of 585 km on a single charge, while the 45kWh variant provides a range of 502 km. Both figures are certified by ARAI, ensuring that the Curvv.ev is not just a city commuter but also a viable option for long drives. The 55kWh battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 40 minutes, and a quick 15-minute charge adds up to 150 km of range, making it convenient for long-distance travelers.
The Curvv.ev is powered by a 123 kW (167 PS) motor, propelling the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.6 seconds. This performance, combined with three drive modes—Eco, City, and Sport—and multi-mode regeneration with paddle shifters, ensures a dynamic driving experience tailored to various conditions.
Advanced Technology and Safety
Tata Motors has equipped the Curvv.ev with cutting-edge technology to enhance both the driving experience and safety. The vehicle is powered by the Snapdragon Digital Chassis Platform by Qualcomm, offering features like a 31.24 cm cinematic touchscreen by HARMAN™, a 26.03 cm digital cockpit, and JBL cinematic sound system. The Curvv.ev also introduces Tata.ev originals—a new line of EV accessories for personalized customization—and the Tata.ev Charge Point Aggregator, integrating over 9,000 charging points with real-time availability into the iRA.ev connected car app.
Safety is a top priority for Tata Motors, and the Curvv.ev reflects this with a host of advanced safety features. The vehicle comes with Level II Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which includes 20 features designed to enhance safety. Standard safety features across all variants include six airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, an Acoustic Vehicle Alert System (AVAS), and Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with i-VBAC.
Expanding the Powertrain Options
In addition to the electric variant, Tata Motors showcased the Tata Curvv in multiple powertrain options, including two petrol engines and one diesel engine. The new Hyperion Gasoline Direct Injection engine makes its debut in the Curvv, offering sporty and responsive performance with advanced technologies like a 350 bar fuel injection system and variable geometry turbocharger.
The Curvv also marks the introduction of Tata Motors’ new ATLAS architecture—an adaptive tech-forward lifestyle platform designed to support multiple powertrains and body styles. This modular architecture ensures that the Curvv offers superior comfort, performance, and versatility, making it a strong contender in the mid-size SUV market.
A Milestone in Tata Motors’ EV Journey
The launch of the Curvv.ev underscores Tata Motors’ commitment to advancing India’s electric vehicle landscape. By offering a premium, tech-rich SUV Coupe at a price point that brings it close to traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, Tata Motors is making electric vehicles an even more compelling choice for consumers. With deliveries set to begin on August 23, the Curvv.ev is poised to make a significant impact on the Indian automotive market.
As Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicle and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., stated, “The Curvv.ev offers an impressive estimated real-world range of 400-425 km with its largest battery pack, ensuring peace of mind for long-distance travel. With a starting price of ₹ 17.49 lakh, we are boldly bringing price parity between EVs and equivalent ICE vehicles.”
The Tata Curvv.ev is more than just a vehicle; it represents a new era of automotive innovation in India, blending cutting-edge technology, premium design, and sustainable mobility into one compelling package.
