Forecasting four to five days wettest spell in Himachal Pradesh, Indian Meterogical Department today issued yellow alert and advisory to tone up adequate public safety measures in wake of dusription of essential services including water , electricity & communications systems in mid and high hills of the state.
State Met Director in a letter wrote to state Principal Secretary Disaster management authority said heavy rain or Snow and inclement weather could prolong for the next four to five days with effect from tomorrow.
” In view of another western disturbance from 2nd February 2022, light to moderate rain or snow is likely to commence in higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh including Chamba, Lahaul Spiti, Kinnaur, Kullu, Shimla , including Shimla town and adjoining area from late 2nd February with peak intensity around Feb 3 and 4.”
Heavy snowfall is likely at isolated parts in the middle and high hills district including Chamba, Lahual Spiti, Kullu, Kinnaur, Shimla, Sirmaur, Kangra, Solan and adjoining area during this period.
Precipitation is likely to decrease after February 4 following impacts are expected in view of above.
“Reduced visibility conditions creating difficulty to commute,” IMD cautioned.
Deputy Commissioner Lahaul & Spiti also advised the general public to avoid unnecessary travel in high altitude , low temperature areas and stay at safe places in their homes to avoid any kind of risk All Gram Panchayat Pradhan , NGOs , Trekkers and Pedestrians are requested to spread this massage to maximum people to avoid any unpleasant incidents, DC said.
Keeping the view of advisory people should be very alert in their respective areas and make sure of the weather or road conditions before making any urgent travel .
65 roads including two National Highway and state highway are already snowbound in the district, he said.
