The Tourist hotspots of Kufri, Narkanda, Fagu, and Shimla received fresh spell of light to moderate snow and downstream was lashed with sleet and intermittent rain increasing the biting cold wave in the state during last 24 hrs. However the weather remained mainly dry and sunny weather on Thursday as people took respite from the coldwave conditions which have remained unabated in the state since the past one week, said the Indian Meterogical Department official.
Tourist resort Kufri had three cm of snow, this capital town 1.6 cm and Kalpa had one cm.
Snowfall affected hundreds of roads , number of water, power supply and communication services as frequent spell of snow along with severe coldwave and freezing temperature are hampering restoration work in the state.
State Disaster management authority said that as many as 362 link road, one state highway, 229 power supply and 176 water supply schemes are still disrupted by recent Snowfall
Naina-Devi shrine in Bilaspur had 22.4 mm rain, Sarkaghat(Mandi) nine mm, Shimla airport 6.6 mm.
Vehicular traffic was affected due to dense fog in Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Sundernagar town as visibility was less than 50 meter, moderate fog engulfed Una also during wee hours.
Minimum temperature of Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti was minus 15.3 degrees and dip by five degrees in last 24 hrs.
Kalpa was minus 7.2 degrees, Kufri minus 3.6 degrees, Manali minus 2.5 degrees, Dalhousie minus one degrees, Shimla and Solan zero degrees, Palampur 0.5 degrees, Sundernagar) 1.3 degrees, Chamba 1.8 degrees, Dharmshala 2.2 degrees, Kangra 2.8 degrees, Mandi 4.8 degrees, Una, Hamirpur and Bilaspur five degrees, each degrees, Nahan seven degrees respectively.
The Met forecasts mainly dry weather however moderate to dense fog at isolated pocket in next 24 hrs.
