Traffic Advisory issued: tourist making beeline to witness Snowfall

Following forecast of snow in Shimla, Kufri, Narkanda and Mashobra overnight today, tourist are making beeline towards this State as record vehicles entered in the town in last 12 hours. An advisory was issued by Shimla police late evening that 7164 vehicles have entered Shimla via Shoghi since 8 am to 8 pm on Friday.
Police urged the commuters and tourists that keeping in view the number of vehicles already arrived in the state capital they should keep in mind heavy inflow of traffic while planning journey this weekend.
It is worthwhile to mention that currently light snowfall is being reported at Kufri and Narkanda however it was raining in Shimla. Met Office forecast mainly dry weather tomorrow.
Meanwhile report arriving here from Chamba said that State Highway Pangi-Chamba was blocked by landslide. According to a press release Pangi Chamba Road (SH – 26) is closed for vehicular movement due to landslide near Chamba Chadhai.
State police and BRO evacuated a woman in labour pain from Udaipur to Manali Information received from Keylong police said that it got a call for emergency evacuation of a mother in labour to another advanced health facility out side the district amidst snowfall. She along with another patient was taken in an ambulance along with BRO and state rescue party through Atal Tunnel Rohtang. Both the patients were evacuate in time late evening.
Superintendent of police Lahaul-Spiti Manav Verma said that police received an information from CHC Udaipur, District Lahaul and Spiti, HP that a woman Pallavi Devi of Kishori village, was suffering from premature labour. Also it was requested that she needed to be taken to a advanced health institution outside the district for immediate necessary treatment. Despite the bad weather and dangerous road conditions, the District Police, District Administration and Border Road Organization in coordination ensured safe travel of patient in ambulance from sub-division Udaipur to Manali during snowfall. Police jawans were deployed at various points for safe transportation.
As it is known that for the last two – three days, due to continuous snowfall in the districts of Lahaul and Spiti and Manali, the traffic is disrupted, however police personnel played an important role in ensuring that all emergency vehicles reach Manali destination safely. With the help of BRO, within a few hours the road was cleared of snow and the ambulance drive was made passible. Apart from this, an eleven-year-old boy, who was undergoing treatment at the Regional Hospital, Kelong yesterday, and who was suffering from epileptic seizures, was also taken to Manali for treatment through the above-mentioned ambulance.
Meanwhile, around 300 roads including three National Highway are snowbound and disrupted by the fresh rain and snow in the state . Power supply was also affected in 500 places due to Windstorm and snowfall, is partly being restored.
