Shimla, July 4,
The India Meteorological Department has issued a significant weather alert for Himachal Pradesh, predicting intensified monsoon activity over the coming days. Following widespread rainfall in the past 24 hours, meteorologists anticipate a further increase in precipitation intensity across the state.
According to the latest forecasts, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected to persist, with particular emphasis on districts including Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Chamba, Mandi, Shimla, Solan, and Sirmaur. Residents are cautioned to prepare for possible spells of heavy to very heavy rainfall, potentially leading to localized flooding, landslides, and disruption of normal traffic flow due to waterlogging in urban areas.
“Given the current weather patterns, it is crucial for residents to take precautions,” advised officials. Recommendations include securing vulnerable structures, unplugging electrical appliances during storms, and avoiding travel to areas prone to flooding.
Furthermore, agricultural communities are urged to implement measures to prevent water stagnation in fields and provide mechanical support to horticultural crops. The weather department has also issued specific advisories for each district, detailing expected weather conditions and safety protocols.
Authorities advise the public to stay informed about updates and follow guidelines issued by local administrations and emergency services. For real-time updates and district-specific warnings, residents are encouraged to monitor official channels and weather alerts.
The meteorological department will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide regular updates as the weather pattern evolves over the next few days, they stated.
