Shimla, May 10
The State government has decided to cancel 26 power projects as these were found disinterested in implementing the allotted projects, despite the passing of a long time. Also, the CoMs agreed to benefit 191 proposed power projects under the one-time Amnesty scheme.
A spokesperson of the state power department said here today that harnessing hydropower is an essential source of income for the state, but in the last few years, this sector has been facing a slowdown due to the pendency of projects. With the aim of speedy implementation of pending projects, the government had decided to provide the One Time Amnesty Scheme to the aspiring power producers in November, 2020. A total of 224 projects were eligible under this scheme, out of which Milestones of 191 projects were redefined by signing SIA. As per Supplementary Implementation Agreement (SIA), the projects were to sign the Connection Agreement and Long Term Open Access Agreement or Power Purchase Agreement, but due to various reasons, some projects could not sign the Connection Agreement and Long Term Open Access Agreement or Power Purchase Agreement as per the given time. Therefore the government has taken the decision regarding one-time concession to projects in which Connection Agreement and Long Term Open Access Agreement or Power Purchase Agreement have not been signed, were given additional time till July 31, 2022.” If he is not able to sign by July 31, 2022 and he is not responsible for the delay, then the administrative department would be Authorized to give additional time,” added the spokesperson. Also, the government decided to provide a one time concession to six projects which were left out of the one-time concession scheme, concluded the spokesperson.
