Global tourist destination Manali in Kullu district and Shimla, the State capital of Himachal Pradesh recorded 9 and 2.3 inch snow in the last 24 hours.
India Meteorological Department recorded overnight 23 cm (9inch) snow and eight mm rain in Manali wherein the minimum temperature plummeted to minus 0.2 degree Celsius, here.
The Shimla town which had the first snowfall of season recorded six cm (2.3inch) snow and 20 mm rain. The monkey point and the highest hill of the city, Jakhu received 3.93 (10 cm) inch snow however down town areas primarily got lashed by rainfall. Minimum temperature of the city was 0.6 degrees.
On the other hand, tourist point Kufri about 18 km from Shimla had 4.7 inch (12 cm) snow and temperature here was minus 0.8, Narkanda 5.9 inch (15 cm) and mercury here was at minus 2.5.
Another tourist favourite Dalhousie in Chamba also received four cm snow and was at 0.5 degree.
Meanwhile, Lahaul-Spiti district remains cut off from the rest of the state and vehicular traffic was also closed at the Atal Rohtang tunnel( ATR). Keylong recorded three cm snow and was coldest in the state minus 7.2 degrees.
Khadrala of Shimla 16 cm, Shillaroo 14 cm, Bharmaur in Chamba 10 cm.Gondla in Lahaul-Spiti 5.5 and Hansa three cm. Kalpa 4 cm and minus 2.5, Bhunter(Kullu) had 21 mm rain, Solan and Sangrah (Sirmaur) and Jubbarhatti in Shimla 20 mm rain each, Nahan (Sirmaur) 18.6 mm, Mandi and Sundernagar 16.7 mm each and Palampur (Kangra) and Chamba 11.6 mm.
According to District Administeration Shimla Old Hindustan Tibet National Highway-5 is closed between Kufri and Fagu and Narkanda. Shimka- Jubbal Kotkhai & Rohru road is blocked at Khadapather and Shimla-Chopal road is blocked at Khirki.
Road communication of many local roads are also closed along with many main snowbound roads in upper areas of Shimla district. Dodrakawar Subdivision is cut off from rest of state since Friday.
Including four national highway total 245 roads are snowbound in the state. Power transmission line are disrupted in 623 distribution Transformer Region in the state. According to state diaster Management authority spokesperson Sudesh Mokta about total 177 roads and two NHs are blocked by snow in Lahaul-Spiti district including 48 in Udaipur, 86 in Lahaul and 43 in Spiti Subdivision. In Shimla District 110 roads and one NH is effected so far. Power supply in Kotkhai is affected in 110 places. In Chamba 13 and Mandi and Kullu 10 and Kangra two roads are reportedly snowbound. Power supply is off in 311 places in kullu district as 208 DTRs are down in Mansli and 118 in Kullu.
