Himachal Pradesh faces unrelenting inclement weather, IMD issues yellow alert extension

The IMD extends the orange alert for Himachal Pradesh till May 3 as the state continues to experience spells of rain and thunderstorms. The Met office predicts light rain and thunderstorms at isolated places in the state over the next two days, with a fresh Western Disturbance expected to affect Northwest India from May 1st. This may lead to rainfall and thunderstorms at a few places on May 1st and widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and hailstorms on May 2nd and 3rd.
The state capital is currently experiencing dark clouds, with light rain showers predicted by the Met Office. Additionally, light to moderate rainfall is expected in Shimla, Solan, Sirmour, Chamba, Mandi, Kullu, and Kangra today. In the past 24 hours, Shimla recorded 4.5 mm of rainfall, while Berthin(Bilaspur) recorded 0.3 mm. Thunderstorms were reported in Jubbarhatti, Shimla, and Kangra, while Shimla and Haripurdhar (Sirmaur) were lashed by hailstorms.

Although the minimum temperature has improved by a few degrees, but it is still below normal. Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti was 0.1 degrees, which is four degrees below normal. The temperature in the state capital was 12 degrees, while Kalpa in Kinnuar recorded 4.2 degrees. Bhuntar airport recorded 11 degrees, Dharamshala 15.2 degrees, Una 16.7 degrees, Nahan (Sirmour) 18 degrees, Solan 11.4 degrees, Manali 6.6 degrees, Kangra 15.3 degrees, Mandi 12.6 degrees, Bilaspur 17 degrees, Hamirpur 14.6 degrees, Chamba 12 degrees, Dalhousie 12.8 degrees, Jubbarhatti airport 14.6 degrees, Tourist spot Kufri 8.6 degrees, and Narkanda 7.1 degrees.
