Shimla, Nov 3
The renowned Indian Institute of Technology Mandi is in news for another wrong reason as a former student has complained for being subjected to harrasment.
As per IIT Mandi spokesperson the victim is a former student of IIT.
On the complaint of the victim, a case has been registered against five accused under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Act under Police station Paddhar.
According to police administration the inquiry on the complaint was handed over to a DSP rank officer. The Police team has interrogated the accused at the preliminary level who would be summoned to the police post Kamand for further investigation.
The institute management has also formed a committee to investigate the matter. The accused include the hostel warden and four other faculty members.
Noteworthy that about a month and a half ago, the IIT was in the news for several days across the country regarding ragging with junior students and the statement made by the director. Now the case of harassing a student on caste basis can become a thorn in the neck of the institute management.
