Shimla, Apr 4
As the political landscape in Himachal Pradesh is heating up Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, while kickstarting his election campaign from Kutlehar in Una, launched a scathing attack on six Congress rebels. In a fiery public address, he denounced the actions of those he referred to as “sellouts and eaters,” emphasizing the values of honesty, morality, and the courage of the people.
The Chief Minister accused these rebels of being swayed by monetary incentives, alleging that they had been sold for a whopping Rs 15 crore each.
Highlighting the ongoing police investigation, Sukhu claimed that evidence was surfacing regarding the financial transactions behind the rebels’ defection. He urged the public to reject such political brokers at the ballot box and vowed to ensure their incarceration. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of distinguishing between truth and lies in the upcoming elections, urging voters to support candidates who prioritize public welfare over personal gain.
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri and other prominent Congress leaders were also present during Sukhu’s address, signaling a unified front against the rebel faction. Sukhu further appealed to BJP leaders and workers to join forces in condemning the practice of selling legislative power for monetary gain, asserting that such individuals would never serve the interests of the people.
In Kutlehar, attention is drawn to Vivek Sharma, a prominent figure whose candidacy is endorsed by Sukhu for the upcoming by-elections. Sukhu urged the electorate to rally behind Sharma, presenting the election as a battle between truth and falsehood. He also expressed confidence in Satpal Raizada as a combative and hardworking candidate for the Una Lok Sabha seat.
Sukhu attributed the downfall of the rebel faction to the government’s crackdown on corruption during its tenure, highlighting their failed attempt to influence the outcome of the Rajya Sabha elections through cross-voting. He revealed details of their movements and activities, accusing them of betraying the public’s trust for personal gain.
