Shimla, April 26
The all India Congress committee today announced the names of three candidates for assembly bypoll as the first list of candidates was declared on Friday.
The Congress President,Mallikarjun Kharge, has approved three candidate for the ensuing bye-elections to the Legislative Assembly of Himachal Pradesh.
AICC general secretary K.C. Venugopal said in a official communication that for 37- Sujanpur, Capt. Ranjit Singh Rana who is BJP rebel, would be candidate, Rana would be in the fray against BJP candidate and Congress rebel Rajinder Rana vice versa of previous assembly elections.
From 42 -Gagret of Una district Rakesh Kalia (also former BJP candidate) would be party candidate against the BJP candidate Chetanya Sharma ( former Congress MLA) . The two would in the fray vice versa that of 2022 assembly election.
Party also decided to put Vivek Sharma (no-voice) from 45-Kutlehar against the Devinder Bhuto (former Congress MLA).
Party couldn’t announced the name of three more candidates from Lahaul Spiti, Badsar (Hamirpur) and Dharmshala (Kangra) assembly constituency and Kangra and Hamirpur Lok sabha constituency.
Assembly bye election in six seats and Lok Sabha election is due alongwith the four Parliamentary constituencies in the final phase 7th phase of poll on June 1 in the state.
Election Commission has decided to hold the bye election in six assembly seats following vaccancy of these seats after disqualification of six MLAs under antidefection law for abstaining from the assembly during passing of budget on February 28 and defying party whip thereof.
