Shimla, May 29,
Himachal Pradesh is experiencing an intense heatwave, with Una recording an all-time high temperature of 46 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. This surpasses the previous record of 45.2 degrees set on May 23, 2013, according to the Indian Meteorological Department.
The capital city of Shimla recorded a temperature of 31.7 degrees, slightly below its record of 32.4 degrees on May 27, 2010.
Other notable above forty degree temperatures across the state include Bilaspur at 44 degrees, Hamirpur at 43.7 degrees, Dhaula Kuan in Sirmour at 43.2 degrees, another reading for Hamirpur at 42.8 degrees, Berthin in Bilaspur at 42.4 degrees, Mandi at 42.2 degrees, Kangra at 41.6 degrees, Sundernagar at 40.5 degrees. Also in the lap of Dhauladhar Dharamshala recorded 37.7 degrees, Solan at 37.2 degrees, and Jubberhati Airport at 36.5 degrees.
In popular tourist destinations, Dalhousie recorded 28.2 degrees, Kufri 25.8 degrees, Narkanda 25.6 degrees, Keylong 19.9 degrees, Kalpa 25.3 degrees, and Tabo 20.2 degrees.
Additionally, reports from district administration indicate that Kunzum Pass has reopened after being closed for six months. The Spiti Valley is now reconnected with Manali and Lahaul via road after a gap of five months.
