Anuradha Rana of the INC won the Lahaul Spiti assembly bye election defeating Ramlal Markanda, an Independent by a margin of 1960 votes , the result of which was declared today. Anuradha Rana got 9414 and Ramlal Markanda 7454 and BJP candidate Ravi Thakur 3045 votes.
In the last election Ravi Thakur had won this seat by a margin of 1616 votes of Congress by defeating Ramlal Markanda of the BJP.
She became a second woman legislators in the 14 th assembly as earlier there was only one BJP woman candidate.
Anuradha Rana was currently serving as Chairman of Lahaul Spiti Zilla Parishad. She trailed in the first four four rounds of counting however as the EVM of Spiti valley was counted in last four rounds established lead and won.
