A team from the Income Tax Department conducted raids in Hamirpur, targeting several business houses, including hardware, jewelry, and wine dealers. The searches, which began at 5:30 AM on Saturday, reportedly involve transactions amounting to Rs 5 crore in cash.
Jewelry shops and other hardware businesses in the Hamirpur market opened late, around 10:30 AM, due to the ongoing raids. The central agencies have intensified their activities in light of the Model Code of Conduct being enforced for the upcoming bye-election on July 10.
Among the raided businesses is a wine dealer from Una, whose residence is also under scrutiny. The operation has lasted for 12 hours and was still ongoing by the evening, with central agency personnel remaining at the business premises.
