The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that the South West Monsoon system has been highly erratic during the first month of its onset. However, widespread rain is anticipated from July 28 onward.
According to the IMD’s forecast, from July 28 to 31, most parts of the mid and foothills of the state will experience rain. Additionally, on July 26 and 27, many locations are expected to receive rain.
In the past 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall was recorded across many parts of Himachal Pradesh, with heavy rain at isolated locations. Jatton Barrage in Sirmour received the highest rainfall at 95.2 mm, followed by Murari Devi with 84 mm, Palampur with 68 mm, and Naina Devi with 42.6 mm.
A cloudburst occurred at Palchan near Manali, disrupting vehicular traffic on the Manali-Leh National Highway (NH-3) and causing the collapse of several houses in Palchan village in Kullu district. Additionally, 14 roads in the Kullu, Sirmour, and Kangra districts were affected by the recent rainfall.
Temperatures remained above normal, with Kukumseri recording the lowest minimum temperature at 12.2°C and Una registering the highest maximum temperature at 36.2°C.
