Shimla, Aug 4
A cloudburst occurred in the Chichum area of Kaza in Lahaul-Spiti district, resulting in a flash flood this evening at around 5:30 PM. Reportedly the flood swept through the Chichum village. No loss of life was reported and one vehicle might have been swept away in the deluge, informed a local.
Revenue and police teams were dispatched to the site, and currently situation is under control, he informed.
Local residents have confirmed that the flood in the village stream led to the probable loss of a car.
In a related incident, SDM Kaza also reported a sudden flood on NH505 near Shichiling in the Spiti subdivision, which caused a blockage of the road. Several vehicles were stranded at the site.
