Ajay Kumar Sharma has assumed charge as Director (Personnel), SJVN Limited today. His appointment has been made by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), Government of India.
On assuming charge, Ajay Kumar Sharma said, “I am proud to assume this new role and am committed to contribute towards SJVN’s mission of sustainable growth and excellence in the power sector.” Sharma will also oversee the company’s Human Resources function, Legal functions and lead the CSR Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of the company.
Sharma’s leadership is expected to further enhance SJVN’s commitment to creating a positive, inclusive workplace culture, while also driving growth and achieving the company’s long-term objectives.
“ Sharma has rich experience of over two decades in Human Resources and Industrial Operations. Since joining SJVN as Manager in October, 2009, Sharma has been instrumental in driving major HR initiatives including improving employee engagement and productivity, developing and implementing HR policies aligned with the Company’s strategic objectives, designing and executing comprehensive training programs that enhanced skills and competencies of the workforce and integrating technology with HR processes and improving efficiency while contributing to overall organizational growth. He has also been awarded the ‘People’s Choice SJVN Star Award’ twice for exemplary leadership and motivating the team to achieve the challenging goals of the organization”.
Prior to joining SJVN, Sharma served in Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) from 1996 to 2009, where he served as Head of Mechanical Maintenance at Bokaro Steel Plant. He was awarded as ‘Outstanding Employee’ in the year 2007.
Director (Personnel) Ajay Sharma was born on 8th April, 1974 in Khargat village, Sihunta Tehsil, Chamba District, Himachal Pradesh. He completed his early education at Government Senior Secondary School, Khargat. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Government College of Technology, Coimbatore, MBA in Human Resource from IGNOU and a Certificate Course in Executive Development Programme in Human Resource Management from XLRI School of Management, Jamshedpur.
Sharma’s family background includes his father owns a shop and his mother is a housewife. He is married to Mrs. Shaili Sharma and has two daughters.
