During this period, low hills, plains, and mid-hill regions are expected to witness 10-20% more heat wave days than usual, while high-altitude areas will experience a normal number of heat wave occurrences, they informed.
Adding that, for April 2025, the mean maximum temperature is expected to be above normal across many parts of Himachal Pradesh, except in Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, and Kinnaur districts, where temperatures are likely to remain within the normal range. Meanwhile, minimum temperatures will be above normal throughout the state.
In terms of rainfall, April 2025 is projected to receive below-normal precipitation across most parts of Himachal Pradesh.
However, the number of heat wave days during the month is expected to remain in line with the long-term average, they added.
With rising temperatures and reduced rainfall, residents and authorities are advised to take necessary precautions to cope with potential heat-related challenges in the coming months.
