While citizens of Himachal Pradesh are battling cold and harsh weather conditions, on the other hand the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity board (HPSEB) remains determined to keep up the power supply in various parts. This was stated by Anurag Prasher, Spokesperson of the board who informed that given the conditions of the State which is reeling under a heavy snowfall spell, the Chairman Probodh Saxena has been personally intercating with teams in field keeping update about the restoration of power supply.
The Chairman held a video conference with senior field officers to review the status of power supply in affected areas and directed them to restore disrupted electricity on priority. He instructed officials to ensure that snow gear and safety kits are provided to field staff on priority wherever required, keeping in view the hazardous working conditions.
The Chairman also emphasized the need to maintain adequate stock of electricity poles and other essential materials to avoid delays in restoration work. He further directed the concerned Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers to personally visit the field and supervise restoration operations.
HPSEBL spokesperson Anurag Parashar said that due to strong winds and heavy snowfall across the state, as many as 13,303 transformers were disrupted on Thursday morning. Despite adverse weather and risky conditions, 2,919 transformers have been restored so far, and restoration work on the remaining affected transformers is ongoing.
In Shimla zone, 431 transformers were affected under six electrical divisions, out of which 119 have been restored till now, while efforts are continuing to normalize power supply in the remaining areas.
