Shimla’s Aastha Sharma takes Zee TV lead as Leela
Shimla, Aug 22,
Not long ago, Aastha Sharma was the girl from the neighbourhood in Shimla—an athlete, a school student and a familiar face around the city, is now preparing to enter millions of homes every night as Leela, one of the lead characters in Zee TV’s new show Dilon Ki Ram Leela.
For those who have known Aastha Sharma from her early years in Shimla, the journey is perhaps more remarkable because television was never the obvious destination. She grew up like any other Shimla youngster—going to school, taking part in athletics and finding her way through the city’s familiar lanes. Acting came later, almost as an unexpected turn. But once it did, Aastha discovered she had the presentation, confidence and instinct for performance to make something of it.
That unexpected turn has now taken her to a lead role on one of India’s leading Hindi entertainment channels.
Aastha will play Leela, opposite Mishkat Verma, who will essay the role of Ram. The show premieres on Monday, August 24, 2026, and will be telecast daily at 10 p.m. on Zee TV.
What started as an unexpected turn gradually developed into a serious acting career.
Aastha has already appeared in several popular television shows. She played the lead role in Dangal TV’s Piya Abhimani and subsequently appeared in Colors’ Neerja, where she played Neeraja, and Swaran Ghar, in which she portrayed Chhoti Swaran.
With Dilon Ki Ram Leela, she now takes another significant step, this time as one of the principal characters of a Zee TV show. Her portrayal of Leela opposite Mishkat Verma is expected to give viewers another opportunity to see her versatility as an actress.

Born and brought up in Shimla, Aastha studied up to Class X at Chapslee School before completing Class XII from Tara Hall School. Her journey from the city’s school grounds and sporting fields to a lead role on National television makes her latest assignment particularly special for Shimla.
Her mother works in a school, while her father ran a motor garage.
For a city that has watched her grow up, Aastha’s new role is more than just another television premiere. It is the latest chapter in the journey of a Shimla girl who found her way into acting—and then worked her way forward.
