Dharamshala, June 14
Congress MLAs Ashish Butail and Bhawani Singh Pathania on Sunday rubbished claims made by senior BJP leaders and Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda regarding Central assistance to Himachal Pradesh, alleging that the Centre’s statements were far removed from the actual financial support received by the state.
Addressing a press conference in Dharamshala, the MLAs questioned why the state had received only Rs 49 crore against treatment claims of nearly Rs 155 crore under the Ayushman Bharat scheme during 2025-26 despite repeated claims that the Centre bears 90 per cent of the expenditure in special category states.
They said Mr Nadda, as Union Health Minister, should explain why Himachal Pradesh was not receiving the promised 90 per cent Central share for providing life-saving healthcare services and medicines to beneficiaries under the scheme.
The legislators also rubbished BJP claims regarding Central support for disaster-hit Himachal Pradesh and questioned the non-release of the Rs 1,500 crore special relief package announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the devastating disasters of 2023 and 2024.

They alleged that despite detailed damage assessments and reports submitted by the state government, the promised assistance had yet to reach Himachal Pradesh.
The Congress leaders accused the Centre of adopting a step-motherly attitude towards the state and demanded answers on delayed assistance, unfulfilled commitments and what they described as a widening gap between public announcements and actual financial support reaching Himachal Pradesh.
