Himachal Pradesh recorded two deaths, one each from Kangra and Shimla districts due to the Covid along with 1,076 new positive cases on Sunday taking the number of active cases to 11,000. Though the number of new positive cases was much less than those recorded on Saturday (1,959), due to the reason that there were fewer tests of samples on Sunday.
A spokesman of the HP Health Department informed that as many as 624 older cases were also cured in the state on Sunday and the number of total cases had gone up to 2,43,365 as against 2,28,454 cured cases.
He said that a maximum number of 213 new cases was reported from the district of Shimla, followed by Solan with 193 cases. Kangra recorded 157 cases, Mandi-128, Una-80, Hamirpur -62, Bilaspur-47, Kullu-41, Chamba-23, Kinnaur-3, and Lahaul and Spiti-1.
However, a maximum recovery of 238 older cases was found in Kangra district, followed by Mandi district with 101 recoveries.
He said that the number of total fatalities also rose to 3,874 as two more deaths were reported today including a sixteen years boy in Shimla district.
Meanwhile, only forty-six people including thirty-four children were vaccinated in the state on Sunday with first and second doses respectively. Precaution dose was also given to twelve people, a report of the Health Department said.
On other hand, the department has issued instructions to its field staff to vaccinate more young and old people in the coming days so that they may save them from the wrath of the Omicron virus that is hitting the nation with full force.
