Union Health Minister Anupriya Patel informed Rajya Sabha MP. from Himachal Pradesh Indu Bala Goswami that the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) conducted inspections of 400 drug companies in collaboration with state licensing authorities over the past year. Of these, action was taken against 300 companies for various violations.
The actions included issuing show-cause notices, halting drug production, canceling licenses, and revoking product licenses. Additionally, out of 812 drug samples tested, 118 were found to be substandard.
The CDSCO also highlighted that some drug manufacturers in Himachal Pradesh were included in an April drug alert for producing inferior quality medications.
