Blow to BJP in Hamirpur as ‘Nap adyaksh’ Manoj, Councilor Rajkumar embrace congress

Nadaun, Apr 12
Hamirpur ‘Nap adyaksh’ Manoj Minhas, along with Councilor Rajkumar, dealt a significant blow to the BJP by joining the Congress party, expressing faith in Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s policies. Their defection, fueled by BJP’s ticket distribution to opportunistic Congress legislators, has rocked the political landscape in Hamirpur, stated Congress party. Chief Minister Sukhu personally welcomed Manoj, his wife Nisha Minhas, and Rajkumar into the Congress fold at the Serah Rest House. Manoj praised Sukhu’s 15-month tenure, emphasizing the government’s commitment to public welfare. Criticizing the defected Congress legislators, he accused them of prioritizing personal gain over public interest. With a shoulder-to-shoulder commitment, they pledged to accelerate development in Hamirpur, addressing long-standing issues with urgency.
Chief Minister Sukhu outlined priorities for Hamirpur’s transformation, focusing on urban development and electrification projects. He urged residents to recognize the Congress government’s efforts and assured relentless work to establish new benchmarks in development. Notably, former Congress candidates Dr. Pushpinder Verma, Pankaj Minhas, Vivek Katoch, Sutikshan Verma, and Vikas Latth were present during the announcement.
In a separate development, dissatisfaction among BJP grassroots workers over neglect and favoritism has led to defections to rival parties. A glaring example.of the same is Giridhari Lal Verma, a childhood friend, recently joined the Congress under Dr. Pushpinder Verma’s leadership, reflecting growing discontent within BJP ranks, stated a congress party spokesperson. Lal’s move underscores a broader trend of disillusionment with BJP’s leadership, with many feeling marginalized and unappreciated.
