The Union Minister of State for Forests, Environment, and Climate Change, Kirti Vardhan Singh, informed Rajya Sabha MP Indu Bala Goswami in the House that the central government has approved central assistance of 5371.13 lakh rupees to coastal states under the Wildlife Habitat Scheme for the year 2024-25. He stated that the highest central assistance of 1108.46 lakh rupees was approved for Odisha, while the lowest central assistance of 66.44 lakh rupees was approved for Goa. He mentioned that under the scheme, the central assistance amounts issued to Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Lakshadweep are 66.44 lakh, 801.58 lakh, 800.82 lakh, 909.64 lakh, 622.06 lakh, 1108.46 lakh, 661.79 lakh, 183.15 lakh, and 217.19 lakh respectively. He noted that no financial assistance has been issued to Andaman Nicobar and Puducherry under the scheme.
He informed Rajya Sabha MP Indu Bala Goswami in the House that the Central government has engaged in wildlife and nature conservation.
