Shimla, July 4,
On Thursday, residents of Chakkar and travelers on the Tavimor bypass road faced significant disruption as debris from nearby construction spilled onto NH-88 tis morning. Though the route was opened later but reports indicated that the main roads and arteries of Shimla town were blocked at Chakkar this morning.
The district administration confirmed that the construction was being carried out on Oak Forest Road. As of now, the road has been restored.
In response, the administration diverted vehicular traffic through alternate routes. While monsoon rains have not been intense, the blame for the disruption cannot be placed solely on the rainfall. The issue largely stems from relentless construction and dumping activities in the town.
Light rain fell in a few places in the state this morning, but the primary cause of the obstruction was the slow but steady flow of construction muck and debris onto the road.
