The Himachal Pradesh Police have successfully located and recovered a missing child, Adhvika, and arrested a male suspect in a case that also involved the murder of the child’s mother. This marks a major breakthrough in a sensitive case that has been under intense investigation.
The case began on August 13, 2025, when Ram Singh, a resident of Udaipur, in Lahaul & Spiti district reported that his wife, Sapna, and their daughter, Adhvika, were missing from their home in Udaipur. Later, the body of an unidentified woman was found in Kiratpur Sahib, Punjab, which was later identified by her husband as Sapna.
With the child still missing, an FIR (No. 26/25) was filed at Udaipur Police Station on August 16, 2025. Due to the serious nature of the case, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed on August 17, 2025, led by Inspector Mukesh Kumar.

The SIT worked closely with Punjab Police and conducted extensive field investigations in Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir, overcoming challenges like difficult terrain, heavy rainfall, and poor network connectivity. The team meticulously analyzed CCTV footage, call detail records (CDR), and local intelligence, which helped them identify a male suspect and a female accomplice.
Based on information provided by Himachal Police, the male suspect was apprehended by Punjab Police. A separate, parallel investigation revealed that the missing child, Adhvika, was in the Kulgam district of Jammu & Kashmir.
A district police team, accompanied by family members, went to Kulgam, where, with the help of Kulgam Police and the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), they successfully recovered Adhvika. She was safely handed over to her father in the presence of Himachal Police.
