
Shimla, Sept 29
In a tragic incident, a Class IX student of Roots Country School, Baghi, under Kotkhai subdivision of Shimla district, allegedly ended her life by jumping from the fifth floor of the hostel building early Sunday morning.
The 14 years old deceased has been identified as, a resident of Panipat district of Haryana.
According to police reports, the incident occurred around 6 am, when most of the hostel inmates were still asleep due to the Sunday holiday. The deceased girl who had been studying at the private day-boarding school for the past two years, sustained fatal injuries on the spot after the jump.
Her family members, who rushed to the school upon receiving information, expressed shock over the incident. They informed police that she had only recently returned to the hostel after spending time at home. The bereaved family has demanded a thorough probe into the circumstances surrounding her death.
Police have registered a case under Section 174 of the CrPC and initiated investigations. The body has been sent for post-mortem at the local hospital.
Senior police officials said statements of hostel staff, school management, and her classmates will be recorded to rule out foul play. The exact reasons behind the extreme step remain unclear.
