Shimla, Oct 10
CPI(M) candidate and Himachal Pradesh Kissan Sabha president Dr Kuldeep Singh blamed Congress and BJP to divided People of Kasumpti into two princely states to cover up for no-development in the constituency, despite being nearest to state capital. Dr Tanwar was addressing a press conference here today blamed both Congress and BJP are equally responsible for the backwardness of Kasumpti assembly constituency.
He said that Congress has been leading this area since last 20 years and BJP has also formed government in the state twice but neither the rural area of Kasumpti developed nor both the parties did anything for this area.
Picking up on-ground issues, the CPI(M) candidate alleged that the condition of education, health, road and transport in 36 panchayats of assembly segment is worst than many inaccessible panchayats in the state. The roads are said to be the lifeline of any area but here, most of roads become worst in every rainy and winter season. He added that it is the local people who themselves maintain rain affected roads every year by investing money from pocket. “There has been forest violation in about 300 roads of the area, due to which no government vehicle could run and neither are the PWD department able to maintain them, ” said Dr Tanwar.
Comparing with the nearest Theog assembly constituency, the Kissan Sabha leader said that during this tenure of CPI(M) MLA Rakesh Singha as many as 173 roads were given environment clearance of which 20 percent are in the rural areas. “Due to lack of roads, public are not getting bus facilities in Kasumpti assembly constituency. There are no buses available for even children to go to school and college, rued Dr Tanwar.
Terming that BJP and Congress leaders are available only during election campaigning, he said that both parties can ply buses to ferry people for their political rallies, but not one of them is trying hard for getting regular bus service in such areas. Dr Tanwar said that the area of Kasumpti would probably be the only area where maximum number of bus routes have been closed after Covid.
He added that the condition of education is such that there are no teachers in the schools, since more than 15 years. Many school buildings are in dilapidated condition, he alleged. There is shortage of language and physical education teachers. “Many Schools, till date, cannot not offer science and commerce streams to students,” he added. To study these subjects, students have to go to the neighbouring district of Solan or travel a distance of 20-25 kms in areas where there is no bus service plying.
Tanwar said that health services are in a dilapidated condition. He said that recently, it was found that no tests and staff was available in the the Civil Hospital Junga and Community Health Center Koti.
Tanwar further also displayed concern that rural part of Kasumpti area was facing a severe outbreak of Lumpy Skin disease among animals, and many milching animals have died due to poor Vetinary Services. The death of milching animals not only affected livelihood but livestock tune to lakhs of rupees being lost by farmers. He alleged that instead of helping the cattle rearers, the Congress BJP leaders are replying bluntly that their work is not to go to people’s cowshed.
Four-lane affected people of six panchayats of Kasumpti are demanding four times compensation under factor 2, but the government is not paying any heed to their demand, he added.
