Shimla, Nov 27,
Intense lobbying is underway in Himachal Pradesh as the Congress gears up to restructure its state committee. Over the last two days, All India Congress Committee (AICC) observers Vidit Chaudhary and Chetan Chauhan have been consulting senior leaders, MLAs, former MLAs, and grassroots workers to gather feedback for the new executive body.
The observers assured that the revamped executive would balance experienced leaders with new faces. Priority will be given to those who played a pivotal role in the Congress’s recent electoral success, along with promising members from the Mahila Congress and Youth Congress. Discussions also focused on enhancing coordination between the government and the party organization to address public concerns more effectively.
State Congress President Pratibha Singh emphasized that capable members from the previous committee would retain their roles while new talent would also be accommodated. “The new team will reflect the party’s commitment to both experience and fresh energy,” she said.
Meanwhile, speculation is rife regarding cabinet reshuffles and regional representation in the party’s leadership. To ensure balance across Himachal’s parliamentary segments, the party is reportedly considering elevating leaders from the Mandi parliamentary constituency, which currently has only one cabinet minister and the Speaker. Some reports suggest that the position of Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) chief could go to a leader from either Shimla or Mandi.
Addressing political jibes from opposition leader Jairam Thakur, cabinet minister Vikramaditya Singh staunchly defended the Congress’s leadership. “No one can challenge the Holi Lodge faction, which holds the blessings of Maa Bhimakali and Lord Ram and represents the people’s trust,” he stated. Singh also highlighted the Congress’s unity and its focus on public welfare.
The revamp comes after the AICC recently dissolved all state units on the recommendation of Pratibha Singh, marking a significant overhaul in the party’s organizational structure.
With the announcement of the new HPCC executive expected soon, the Congress aims to strengthen its footing in the state and reinforce its connection with the public.
