Former MLA and State Congress General Secretary Bamber Thakur was attacked by individuals in Jabali. Thakur, along with his son, was seriously injured in the attack. Simultaneously, the police have registered the case and initiated further action.
In this regard a case FIR U/S 147, 148, 149, 323 IPC has been registered in Police Station Sadar Bilaspur. During course of investigation section 307 IPC has been added in the case. A SIT under Dy.SP(HQ) Bilaspur has been constituted for speedy and fair investigation of the case, informed the State Police.
According to reports, Bamber Thakur had visited the railway line construction office in Jabali. Allegedly, an argument ensued with some individuals inside the office, leading to an attack on him. Thakur sustained serious injuries in the altercation. Subsequently, his supporters raised slogans against the administration. Conversely, DSP Madan Dhiman stated that Thakur had been taken to the hospital.
Talking about it a police spokesperson said that today on 23.02.2024 at about 10.45 AM an information was received at PS Sadar Bilaspur that Ex MLA Sadar Bilaspur Bumber Thakur and his son reached in the office of General Manager, Dilip Buildcon Limited (DBL) Railway near Mandi Bharari and enquired about the work related issues. They had a heated conversation in the office and eventually some persons assaulted him.
On receiving this information police team responded within 15 minutes and SHO Sadar along with team reached the spot. After assessing the situation teams were deployed to apprehend the accused who had escaped from the place, they stated.
They added that in the matter 06 persons involved in the incident have been arrested. These include Manjeet Singh S/o Sh Nand Lal R/o Village Bagi Binola, Gaurav Kumar S/o Kuldeep Kumar R/o Diara Sector Bilaspur, Saurabh Patyal S/o Surender Kumar R/o Jahri PO Naswal Ghumarwin, Pradeep Kumar S/o Ram Lal R/o Dhuankothi, Suraj S/o Anil Kumar (Pintu) R/o Panjgain and Kulbhushan Thakur S/o Chain Singh R/o Chandpur District Bilaspur
