Diesel dearer by Rs 3 per ltr in Himachal Pradesh
Shimla, July 15
The Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Government, in power for seven months, has announced a hike in the Value Added Tax (VAT) on diesel by Rs three per litre.
A notification issued by Principal Secretary of Excise and Taxation, Bharat Kheda, stated that the VAT on diesel, which was previously charged at a rate of 9.96 percent or Rs 7.40 per litre, will now be charged at a rate of 13.9 percent or Rs 10.40 per litre. This hike will be implemented starting from July 14, 2023.
This is the second time the Sukhu government has increased fuel prices in the last seven months, citing the need for rationalization to match the rates of neighboring states.
